• Yep, Good Omens is right.

  • What was this month’s book again? Good omens by terry pratchett and neil gaiman?

  • There’s a few books I’d like to suggest/read as part of the book club, but Jam sounds pretty interesting and I used to watch Yahtzee’s reviews on the escapist website, so I am happy for this round to go to Jam. So long as there are other future votes on the monthly book as well.

    Huzzah! 🙂

  • I agree with Jill’s comments, but to add if you do like history and are a really quick reader it is interesting, but not the greatest book that was ever written- and not something you can’t stop reading, because the characters, plot and other typically shows the stereotype rather than making the characters shine.

Overall, I would give it 3/10

  • I like the idea of reading Yahtzee’s book. I have a copy of Mogworld which I got him to sign but I’ve never actually read it. That was from back in the early days of the Mana Bar when he was part owner along with Yug and the others.

Quick summary for anyone who wasn’t at the club (read: most people :P) book received a resounding “meh” mostly bad, with comically evil villains; horrible, out of place romance; 1 dimensional characters and all round awkward writing. Probably give it a miss if you’ve not already read it!

I’d like to add that for anyone who can’t attend the book club (when the date is set) but still reads the book and wants to discuss it. I would highly encourage posting some thoughts on here on the day and I, or whoever wants, can read them out (as long as they aren’t full book reports) and we can post some little discussion notes from the club…[Read more]

Have we set the date for next book club. Is it in Deember or wait till next year? It’s probably busy for most people in December so some advance notice would be good.

For a quick intro to the story here’s a short spiel I borrowed from Amazon

The year is 1901. Germany’s navy is the second largest in the world; their army, the most powerful. But with the exception of a small piece of Africa and a few minor islands in the Pacific, Germany is without an empire. Kaiser Wilhelm II demands that the United States s…
